Swedish Massage
Comforting and soothing, Swedish massage is perfect for overall relaxation and feeling refreshed. If you've never had a massage before, Swedish massage is the best place to start.
A Swedish massage is rhythmic and flowing. During the session, I may use gliding strokes as well as lifting and kneading, friction, compression, rocking, tapping, and stretching, depending upon your needs. The pressure can range from light to firm.
Prenatal
Prenatal massage is an excellent way for moms-to-be to help themselves feel better during pregnancy. Done in semi-reclining and side-lying positions, prenatal massage can help alleviate pain in the shoulders, back, and hips.
Moms-to-be, please note that you should have your doctor's approval for receiving massage.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is designed for just prior to or following a sporting event/activity, to help you maximize performance and speed up your recovery. A sports massage incorporates moderate pressure, quicker strokes, rocking, lifting and kneading, and gentle passive stretching to warm the muscles and enhance circulation. Deeper work is not recommended right before or after a sporting event or activity.
Deep Tissue
Therapeutic Deep Tissue massage targets your problem areas to release patterns of muscular imbalances and relieve your pain. Each Therapeutic Deep Tissue session is tailored to the individual client's needs.
Techniques such as postural analysis, friction, deep gliding, myofascial release, strain/counterstrain, body mobilization, trigger point work, PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) and passive stretching are used to address the muscles that are causing you pain.
While talking with you about your areas of pain, I will ask about factors such as your activities, your sleeping position, previous injuries or surgeries, and when and how you feel the pain. I may also give you "homework": self-care methods that will help you feel better between massage sessions.
Because Therapeutic Deep Tissue massage addresses problem areas slowly and completely, these sessions typically do not allow for a full-body massage. Also, it may take multiple sessions to fully address all of the areas that are contributing to your pain.
When you book a Therapeutic Deep Tissue massage, please be sure to be well hydrated for your session - hydrated muscles respond more quickly to the massage work and will feel less painful during the session.
